Within the city of Neverwinter, many people (mostly humans and half-elves) live peaceful, content lives. However, there are those who are not content within Neverwinter's sturdy walls... those who seek a certain... excitement.
Lady Aletha Greycrown is one such individual. Although married to the wizard Lord Terym Greycrown for many years, recently she has become dissatisfied and has having visits from another wizard, a young man named Lassat.
Lady Greycrown suspects that her husband is growing suspicious, and so has begun hiring adventurers to escort her young lover on his nocturnal visits. If any guardians or traps are found, the mercenaries will dispatch them, and Lady Greycrown can claim that 'thieves' came in the night and stole some treasure... which is, in reality, the payment given to the adventurers for their services.
Already, a few adventurers have earned some 'easy money', but Lady Greycrown makes sure to rotate out the adventurers periodically to help dissuade suspicion.
For tonight, she has procured the services of three adventurers: Dale Sabrehaven, Italy Fen, and Darella Shieldheart. The instructions as given to the three are to "Wait at the Silver Sails tavern by the docks, then escort the young man who shows you this signet ring through the Greycrown estate in the Blacklake District." The letters given to each mercenary are sealed with the seal of a flying hummingbird and wrapped around an iron key.
((A fourth hero may be added for additional nights. For this adventure, the characters must be relatively inconspicuous (so Italy's shadowy armor is out, for example) so as not to attract attention.))
