It has been one month since the shattering and restoration of the Soulspire. Once again, the moon is full, and once again, evil stalks Athkatla...
In the Government District is an orphanage run by an old widow named Escamilla Legaux, or "Goody Lee" as she is known by the children. Recently, however, the children of the orphanage have grown sickly, pale, and weak. A priest of Waukeen was brought in to investigate, and it was found that some of the children have small piercings in their neck. The priest immediately fled in terror and informed his superiors.
The church of Waukeen, goddess of trade, is a powerful opponent in the city of coin. Several kind-hearted citizens have pooled their resources together and are offering a reward of 1,000 gold pieces to the hero or heroes who stop the evil infecting the children, PROVIDED that the children are spared and no harm comes to the orphanage (no fireballs indoors, for example, and watch where you swing that broadaxe!). The heroes have one week ((in game time, not real life time)) before the church makes its move.
