Inside, the disguised half-drow looks around and sees a half-orc and a dwarf sitting at a table in the corner, sharing mugs of beer. A rather pretty barmaid is going back and forth between them and the stockroom, bringing out different brands of beverage for the two to try. While perhaps unusual to find a half-orc and a dwarf sitting peacefully together, both races were rare in Arrabar, and if anything could bring the two races together, it was sure to be strong and tasty.
Next to the table is a crystal statue ((much like an Indian chief statue in another plane... )) with an assortment of strange armaments resting against it: a double-bladed sword, a gigantic warhammer, and a dwarven waraxe with crystal runes embedded in the head.
Cora glanced down at the note in her hand, a note from Lord Eles Wienar himself, or so the rune at the bottom claimed. Those would be the two, she thinks. She walks over and introduces herself, "Greetings, Radymon, Keth. I am Cora, and- "
"Eh?" the dwarf blinks up at her. "Ach, ye be want'n Rady, aye?" He turns around and kicks violently at the pillar. " 'ey, Rady, wake up. There's a lass here t' speak t' ye!"
Cora suddenly realizes that the 'statue' is in fact alive as it slowly turns its head to face her, crystal chips breaking free to decorate the floor in multi-colored sparkles. "I had a feeling you'd be here," Radymon growls from the depths of his dendritic crystal armor.
"... and STAY out!" Suddenly, a halfling flies through the air, straight for Cora! Before the startled half-drow can react, Radymon calmly reaches out and intercepts the rogue projectile, then spins around and sends the halfling on its way out the door. Crystal flecks fly in an arc from the armor, but as Cora watches the breaks meld together.
"Sorry about that," says Gwen, walking over with a fresh tray of drinks. "I missed; it happens. Can I get you anything?"
A good number of drinks later, everyone has become acquainted with one another, and Cora has delivered her message. Apparently, in the nearby Chondath Wood there have been reports of 'ghostly apparitions' of twisted, nightmarish beauty that only some people could see, leading Lord Eles to think that it may be a purely mental phenomenon. Requests throughout the city and nearby lands have brought in Radymon and Morand, two (unrelated) dwarves with mental powers, and Keth, a massively strong half-orc with his own interest in the woods. Cora herself is a devoted follower of Mystra and a talented illusionist, and as such may be able to handle the apparitions if they turn out to be true undead or magical illusions.
Lord Eles is offering a reward of five thousand gold to any group that can solve the mystery of the apparitions, ten thousand if they stop it, and fifteen thousand if they bring back the means by which Lord Eles could create his own.
As the group prepares to head out, Gwen intercepts them at the door. "I couldn't help but overhear, what with serving you all drinks for the past hour, and I'm coming along. Anyone care to stop me?"
((Flete, please post Cora's memorized spells in your next post.))
